Organ Donors can't register to donate online.
Do we need more people to become organ donors? The answer, I believe, is yes. There's obvious reasons - the most important being saving future lives.
So it's no surprise that the sign-up process is more difficult than it needs to be - which is likely contributing to the low response. Make it easy - promote it - and you'll get more responders.
Currently, there's no real online sign-up. I thought it was 2010 - but I'll move on. The process is a mail-in - unless you happen to be in the department of motor vehicles with a few hours to spare anyway - in which case I believe you can register there as well.
The point here is that this is a life-saving initiative which does good for the public - but we're just making things more difficult than it needs to be. Kind of like the $15 billion-dollar census direct mail effort that likely could have been done online for about one-tenth the cost.
Process May Contribute to Low Organ-Donor Rate
