While Facebook's done a great job in getting more people on-board daily to sign up for an account, I continually hear from their original core audience (college age students) that the site's gone a bit too far.
Ultimately, this group mentions things like "my mom got an account" or my "kid brother has an account" so now it's time to go. This sway from what's made them so successful can be damaging to FB.
Ultimately, going back to the niche focused segments appears to be where social media's growing to. Facebook may be the grand daddy of social media sites - but sometimes your core market does not want to network with grandparents.
